Glendale Golf is recruiting a full-time Head Greenkeeper for its flagship venue Richmond Park Golf Course. Following a £3million investment programme, this is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the greenkeeping/mechanic team.

Reporting to the General Manager, this is an vital role as the Head Greenkeeper will oversee a team that is responsible for the maintenance and presentation of one of the UK’s busiest golf venues, which features two reconstructed 18-hole courses, driving range & academy course.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparation and maintenance of the 280 acre estate, including two 18-hole courses, academy course, driving range and general amenity areas.
  • Managing and monitoring weekly, monthly and annual maintenance programmes.
  • The annual course maintenance programme and operational budget.
  • Working closely with the General Manager to optimise course aesthetics and ensure courses are set up correctly each week.
  • Proving a monthly report of course condition, maintenance schedule and expenditure to the General Manager
  • Raising orders and liaising with suppliers.
  • Managing the machine/equipment/buggy fleet to ensure all equipment is correctly maintained and serviced. Ensure maintenance/service records are kept up to date.
  • Presentation and organisation of workshops and storage areas.
  • Conducting basic risk assessments and contingency plans and be able to respond to emergencies.

It would be advantageous for candidates to possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Sports Turf Maintenance.
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates.
  • CS30 and CS31 chainsaw certificates.
  • Knowledge of the use and maintenance of modern greenkeeping machinery.
  • Knowledge of automated irrigation systems.
  • Knowledge of all health and safety legislation relating to greenkeeping equipment and also chemical and waste handling.
  • Personnel and budget management skills and the ability to maintain and keep all necessary records up to date and fully compliant with legislation.

This is a permanent position at 40 hours per week over five days to include a minimum of one weekend day. Benefits include free use of all golf courses in the Glendale Golf group.

The Championship Course was a venue of the European Tour in Austria from 2006 until 2009, ranked No. 1 in Austria and 69th in Europe.

We are looking to recruit:

  • Seasonal Greenkeepers - those with irrigation (Rainbird) and spray technician skills are highly desirable but not essential.

The club seeks to recruit enthusiastic, capable and experienced Greenkeeper’s to join our existing team. These positions are ideally suited for individuals that wish to develop their careers gaining experience in all areas of Turfgrass management and tournament preparation.

Fontana is located 20 km South of the Austrian capital Vienna, which ranks as one of the most attractive cities world wide. The Viennese speak English very well and seem to enjoy practicing their skills at every opportunity.

Candidates will ideally possess all of the following attributes:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management

Applications are invited for the position of Head Greenkeeper at Bishop Auckland Golf Club in County Durham. The successful candidate will be suitably qualified, experienced and self-motivated, demonstrating a genuine commitment to presenting our beautiful and challenging course to our members and visitors in the best possible condition throughout the year.

Reporting to our Greens Chair, the successful candidate will have responsibility for and be required to demonstrate those skills necessary to:-

· Organise, lead, motivate and train a team of 4 greenkeepers

· Devise, manage and monitor weekly, monthly and annual maintenance programmes

· Manage and monitor the operational budget, control expenditure and work within that budget

· Source, operate and maintain state of the art machinery and course equipment

· Raise orders and liaise with suppliers

· Organise and maintain the workshop and storage areas

· Devise, manage and monitor necessary course improvement projects

· Conduct basic risk assessments and contingency plans and be able to respond to emergencies

· Manage and improve the drainage and automated irrigation systems

· Maintain as required all necessary records for training, qualifications and Health & Safety

· Attend monthly management meetings and provide a monthly report of course condition, maintenance and budget adherence

· Communicate effectively with staff, club management and members

· Cooperate with outside consultants engaged by the club from time to time

It would be advantageous for candidates to possess NVQ level 3 or equivalent, PA1, 2 and 6 spraying certification and CS 30 and 31 chainsaw certificates.

Starting salary will be between £28,000 and £30,000, depending upon experience, qualification and ability to demonstrate the above skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Golf Course Manager to lead the course maintenance team at our James Braid course.

A traditional private members club est.1897, Drayton Park Golf Club is a mature Parkland Course set out on mainly free draining ground. All eighteen greens are USGA specification construction. As such we strive to provide the very best year round quality golfing conditions.

The club has been awarded an EGU event for 2017 and will host the 2018 Staffs Amateur and Staffs Matchplay so a solid ground for attracting prestigious tournaments has already been laid.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of sound Green Keeping practice alongside an awareness of modern techniques. We are looking for applicants that can demonstrate the following:-

Head Greenkeeper at Belvoir Park Golf Club

Overview

Reporting to the General Manager of the Golf Club, the Head Greenkeeper is entrusted with overseeing the day to day maintenance and operations of the golf course and course maintenance team. You will be responsible for implementing the agronomic plan for the course per the guidelines set out by the Carr Golf’s Regional Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

You will assume responsibility for managing and maintaining golf course properties, which will include:

  • Plan, monitor, evaluate and manage golf course maintenance in accordance with the Carr Golf Guidelines for Standards and Presentation.
  • Plan all maintenance work, applying his or her agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the objectives set out in the agronomic programme.
  • Keep accurate and complete records on the IT system in place in the Club.
  • Communicate regularly with the team at Carr Golf to discuss activities, goals, plans and member/golfer input.
  • Manage the use of resources for the implementation of the agronomic plan.
  • Oversee the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work identified in the agronomic plan and weekly task lists.
  • The head green keeper will inspect the golf course and related areas daily to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and communicate any issues to the Regional Superintendent and General Manager.
  • Manage and maintain a healthy and safe workplace in accordance with the Club’s and Carr Golf’s guidelines.
  • Train equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
  • Supervise pesticide and fertiliser applications and/or operate and calibrate pesticide and fertiliser application equipment.
  • Supervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
  • Manage the performance of the team by identifying training and development needs.
  • Liaise and work closely with the Course Convenor and attend scheduled Course Management & Development Committee meetings
  • Take active involvement in the structured Course Improvement Plan and liaise closely with the Club Architect and associated contractors

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the green keeping industry with time served as a Head Green Keeper, Deputy Head Green keeper or equivalent an advantage
  • A minimum NVQ Level 3 Sports Turf Management / FETAC Level 6 in a relevant qualification with evidence of continuing professional development desirable
  • Energetic and diligent worker that can demonstrate high levels of attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills are essential
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at different levels

Sandy Lodge Golf Club was founded in 1910 and designed by 6 times open champion, Harry Vardon. It is a unique golf course on the outskirts of London that is renowned for its ‘inland links’ characteristics. It has hosted numerous championship events over the years and currently is a regional open qualifying course.

The management committee are very ambitious with the ultimate aim of providing the ultimate members club in Hertfordshire. We are currently looking for an ambitious deputy head greenkeeper to join our maintenance team. Candidates must show ambition, desire and have the necessary skills to help us achieve our aims.

To be considered for the role the applicant should have the following:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Greenkeeping or equivalent (essential)
  • Current UK driving license (essential)
  • PA1, 2 and 6a spraying certificates (essential)
  • Relevant IT Skills (essential)
  • Irrigation experience including repair and maintenance (desirable)
  • CS 30 and 31 chainsaw certificates (desirable)
  • Good working knowledge of fine turf machinery (desirable)
  • Construction experience (desirable)

Remuneration will be based on skill level and experience. There is no accommodation linked to the role.
