Description
Following
the imminent retirement of the incumbent, an exciting opportunity has arisen
for the position of Head Greenkeeper.
Upminster
Golf and Bowling Club is a premier facility within Essex with a long history
and tradition dating back to its’ foundation in 1928.
Remuneration:
Offered will be a competitive salary commensurate with the experience
and skills of the successful applicant.
This is a live-out position and therefore no Club accommodation is
offered.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated ‘hands on’ innovator, able to
demonstrate a number of years’ experience in a similar role. He/She will
possess an enthusiasm to develop new skills whilst currently having a sound
knowledge of modern greenkeeping practices and legislation.
Qualifications and experience
should include:
- Excellent management, motivation and communication skills
- Working within planned financial budgets
- NVQ
Level 3 or equivalent
- PA1,
2 and 6 Spraying certificates
- Relevant IT skills
- CS30
and 31 chainsaw certificates
- Knowledge of modern greenkeeping machinery
- Promotion and implementation of all health and safety legislation relating to
green keeping including machinery, chemical and waste handling
- Knowledge of automatic irrigation systems
- Full
driving licence
- Competent
golfer with a strong knowledge and understanding of the game
The
post requires an individual with an understanding of personnel management and
the ability to maintain and keep all necessary records up to date and fully
compliant with legislation.
The
successful candidate will be an articulate communicator overseeing and leading
a team of five green staff, will possess excellent team building and
organisational skills and a personal desire to maintain the golf course and
Bowling Green to the highest standards for members and guests.
The
Head Greenkeeper will be responsible for the provision of general weekly update
and monthly course condition reports and an on-going maintenance schedule in
line with the annual expenditure, upkeep and improvement program.
Reporting
to the Secretary Manager, the position of Head Greenkeeper is full time,
permanent and based on annualised 40 hours/week with some weekend work. The
Club will be looking to the successful candidate to redefine working practises
in order to obtain the most efficient use of current resources.
