Course Manager required for The Castle Course, St Andrews Links
St Andrews Links, the Home of Golf, is the most renowned public golf complex in the world. We are a dynamic and innovative organisation, home to seven golf courses including the world famous Old Course, a state-of-the-art Golf Academy, 3 clubhouses and 5 retail shops.
A vacancy has arisen within our team for a Course Manager on The Castle Course at St Andrews Links. The Castle Course is the newest edition to the Links’ portfolio of courses, having opened for play in 2008. Designed by David McLay Kidd and built on a cliff top location on the eastern side of town, the course measures 6,759 yards from the medal tees and has majestic views over St Andrews Bay.
The course has USGA type greens and is maintained and presented to a very high standard with a policy of continued improvement.
The successful candidate would report directly to the Director of Greenkeeping, be highly self-motivated and committed, suitably experienced with a high standard of technical ability as demanded by a modern day golf course and capable of leading a highly skilled team, to maintain and continue the existing high standard of course presentation.
The successful candidate will have
SVQ/NVQ 3 in sportsturf maintenance or equivalent.
Minimum of 7 years experience in a senior greenkeeping position.
A successful record of managing a number of staff and be able to demonstrate the ability to delegate and monitor effectively.
Maintain accurate records of all greenkeeping activities and material usage.
Understand and follow the Trust’s policy on Health and Safety and to ensure that all duties performed are carried out with full regard to the safety of customers, visitors, contractors and other employees.
Proficiency in use of computer technology, automatic irrigation and communication systems.
Experience of dealing successfully with customers and demonstrating effective customer care.
Good team player who works effectively with others and has good communication skills.
Display a positive attitude to change.
