Assistant Agronomy Manager – Technical

Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, UAE

Jumeirah Golf Estates is a luxury golf and residential community in Dubai, UAE. Mediterranean styled communities envelope the two Greg Norman championship courses that have been home to European Tours season ending event the DP World Tour Championship since 2009.

We are currently inviting applications for our Assistant Agronomy Manager- Technical position/Equipment Manager position, who will manage all aspects of the golf course maintenance equipment, workshop, spare parts inventory and general logistics of the department with direction from the Agronomy Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Supervision of inspecting, diagnosing and repairing of mechanical defects/failures in various golf course and horticultural equipment
  • Instruction and training mechanics on frequent and on-going basis
  • Instruction and training of golf course maintenance employees regarding preventative maintenance as well as proper cleaning and safe operation of equipment
  • Maintenance of complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, cost of repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Scheduling of service of all equipment and subsequent ordering of parts
  • Overseeing of spare parts stores and ensuring that stores are suitably stocked
  • Developing of spare parts projections for individual machinery models
  • Review and recommendations on specifications and accessories for all machinery capital purchases
  • Establishment of a comprehensive list of mechanical tools and equipment required for each individual workshop
  • Establishment and implementation of a detailed Fire and Safety plan for Agronomy Centre and other related workshops

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • FdSc/BSc in Turfgrass Mechanics with 10 years’ experience and 5 years as Workshop Manager or Minimum 3 year City & Guilds or equivalent (Horticultural equipment or equivalent) with 15 years’ experience and 10 years as workshop manager
  • Further education in Turfgrass Management is an advantage
  • Manufacturer product technical training certificates (Engines, Hydraulics, Electrics, onboard computers)
  • Reel/Bedknife Grinding Training; manufacturer technical training certificate
  • Health/safety procedure training certificates (EU or equivalent)
  • Welding certification; e.g. MIG, TIG, GAS, ARC (any one would be an Advantage)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Heavy Equipment/Plant License (Advantage)
