Wakefield Golf Club was established in 1891 and has been on its current site since 1911, the original course layout having been designed by Sandy Herd. Dr Alister MacKenzie advised on bunkering. The current course is mature undulating parkland offering a test for all levels of golfer. The course is well maintained and has progressed over recent years based on a programme developed in conjunction with STRI. We are looking for an ambitious forward thinking Head Green Keeper who can take the course onto the next level.
The Club has recently had a full architectural review undertaken by Jonathan Gaunt and has ambitious plans for the development of the golf course over the next 3-5 years and is therefore seeking a highly motivated individual with the vision and skills to produce a course of the highest quality.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Minimum 2 years’ golf course supervisory experience
Qualified to NVQ 3 or equivalent.
Spraying certificates PA 1, 2 & 6.
Strong supervisory and communication skills.
Knowledge of IT and presentation skills preferred.
Experience in golf course renovation programs e.g. Bunkers, drainage, and woodland management.
The ability to set goals, targets and motivate a team.
Budget construction and management.
Machinery maintenance scheduling and replacement planning.
Being a Golfer would be an advantage. On-site accommodation is not available.
Salary negotiable according to experience and qualifications.
