Course Manager
Chesterfield Golf Club, established in 1897, is a Harry Colt designed course located on the edge of the Peak District on the way out of Chesterfield on the A632. We enjoy a wonderful parkland setting with tree-lined fairways and an abundance of flora and fauna. Birdholme Brook meanders through the inward half of the course adding to its charm and its challenge. The course is renowned for the quality of its greens which are deservedly reputed to be among the finest in the midlands.
The Club is seeking a highly motivated individual with high technical ability and proven management skills to continue the improvement to the course. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of our greenkeeping team and will be charged with the maintenance and presentation of the course to the highest standards possible in line with the Course Policy Document. He will need to be experienced, hard-working and reliable and will demonstrate a professional and modern approach to greenkeeping, an ability to communicate and to lead and develop the team.
Applicants will, as a minimum, be expected to demonstrate a proven track record of the following:
- NVQ Level 3 in Green keeping or higher in Sports Turf Management.
- A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience with a proven ability to plan, organise and implement work programs.
- Proven ability to motivate, lead, develop and mentor others.
- Computer literacy.
- An ability to prepare, implement and control budgets.
- PA1, 2 and 6a spraying certificates.
- Equipped both technically and practically to undertake greenkeeping duties to the highest standard required at a prestigious members club.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
It would be an advantage to have:
- Experience operating a newly installed state-of-the-art Toro Irrigation System
- NPTC Chainsaw licence
- Good working knowledge and maintenance of fine turf machinery
- Construction experience
Salary will depend on experience and qualifications. On-site accommodation may be available if required.
