The County Sligo Golf Club established in 1894 is one of the oldest clubs in the country and was designed by renowned Course Architect Harry S. Colt. Located on the West Coast of Ireland in the picturesque village of Rosses Point, just five miles from Sligo City, it is home to the prestigious West of Ireland Championship which is held here each year. The club has hosted the Home Internationals in both 1991 and 2011. The club has an excellent worldwide reputation and it has ambitious plans to add to this by further enhancing all aspects of its golf business. The new Course Manager will be expected to make a key contribution to a number of exciting new developments that are presently under consideration.
The Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, with strong leadership and management capabilities who is comfortable operating in a dynamic and changing environment. The person selected will have an excellent appreciation of Links Course Requirements and will have demonstrated a capacity to deliver results in challenging situations. Excellent communication skills, strong teamwork capabilities, and an ability to organize work in a systematic way are key considerations
The position will report directly to the General Manager.
Essential Attributes
- Previous experience as Head Green Keeper or Course Manager
- A proven track record of a high standard of course presentation
- Qualified to NVQ level 4 or equivalent
- Spraying certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6
- Chainsaw certificates CS 30 and 31
- Highly motivated with a good eye for detail
- Good staff management, team work, and leadership skills
- Project management, planning, and implementation capabilities.
- Possess knowledge of modern machinery, maintenance, and care
- IT proficient with budgeting, finance, communications and social media
- Experienced in Health and Safety Legislation, Hazardous Chemicals., and fire regulations
- A full driving license
Desirable Attributes
- Previous experience of course construction work of tees, greens, bunkers, and practice areas
- Irrigation experience including repair and maintenance
- Experience in drainage implementation and construction
- The ability to work under pressure, and prioritizing to meet deadlines
- Supervision of sub-contractors and volunteer workers
Salary is negotiable according to ability, experience, and qualifications of the successful applicant.
