Worthing Golf Club is seeking to recruit a First Assistant Greenkeeper to join its professional greenkeeping team. The course was built in 1905 by the renowned player and architect Harry Vardon and redesigned and extended by Harry Colt in 1926. The club is committed to ensuring that the courses are presented and maintained to the highest standard. The facilities include two 18 hole downland courses, a 7 hole Academy course, 2 full size practice areas one with built in range bays, 2 short game practice areas with bunkers and 130 acres of downland under agricultural and environmental management.
The position of First Assistant Greenkeeper is on the Lower Course par 71 SSS 72. The First Assistant will be responsible for the day to day management of 5 full time and 2 part time staff, and will work closely with both the Deputy Course Manager and the Course Manager.
Applications are invited with the following minimum attributes:
- Minimum NVQ level III or equivalent.
- Evidence of commitment to CPD.
- Minimum 5 years greenkeeping experience.
- Pa 1, 2 & 6a spraying certificates.
- Experience of irrigation equipment and watering techniques.
- Conversant with Health and Safety regulations.
- Knowledge of machinery maintenance, (Club has full time Mechanic).
- Excellent communication skills & IT literacy would be advantageous.
- Ability to lead and motivate staff, along with and in the absence of the Deputy Course Manager, and Course Manager.
